Phillip Thompson is a 25 year old optometry student from Smithfield, Pennsylvania, a small town south of Pittsburgh. He played sports all throughout his childhood, but after suffering from multiple knee injuries and going through 3 surgeries the doctors suggested he give the high contact sports up. That's when he got hooked on endurance sports. Three years ago he decided to get involved in triathlons. He bought a bike and started training for his first sprint triathlon. He finished it and was hooked. Since that race he completed six additional triathlons and many other running races and this year he plans to really step it up.
I attend optometry school in Puerto Rico and training is my way of getting away from the stresses of school. The island gives me a great place to train and great opportunities to meet so many people that are also involved in triathlons. I've decided to train for a couple of 70.3 races this year and through my training I have noticed how much more important my nutrition is going to be in these races. That is when I found BASE Performance.
